Traceability is the procedure to locate and control a product throughout the whole supply-chain. In order to achieve this objective, every link which constitutes our supply-chain must define a procedure to monitor the origin, location and route of a product or batch. Additionally, our traceability system allows us to obtain more intrinsic information of this product: departure point, management, process specifications such as stored time in cold stores, etc.

From an information management perspective, traceability involves relating information flow with physical goods flow, in order to be acquainted at all times with batch situation.
